Florida KidCare 

The Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) 

Provides matching funds for healthcare of children under 19, for low-income families not eligible for Medicaid.

Offers low-cost healthcare insurance to children ages 1 through 4.

Early Steps Program 

Serves Florida's infants and toddlers up to 36 months and who are at risk of developmental disabilities or delays.

ELDER CARE PROGRAMS

 Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA)

They provide a variety of programs that cover memory disorder clinics, legal assistance, elder abuse prevention, disabilities, mental health, relocating to Florida, caregiver support, nutrition, transportation, senior employment, guardianship, volunteerism, and disaster preparedness. 

State Balancing Incentive Program

Created by Medicaid, it is a matching payment program for long-term care.

Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE) 

Provides counseling to seniors regarding health insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, prescription drug assistance, and long-term care.

Florida Department of Elder Affairs

Provides assessment of seniors to see what services are needed and what programs are available to help keep a person in their own home, as well as assessment for placement in assisted living or in a nursing home.

Older Americans Act (OAA) Community Care Program

For individuals 60 and older, they provide legal assistance, in-home services such as companionship and home repairs, transportation and case management, among others.

Medicare Low Income Subsidy (LIS) Extra Help

If you are a Medicare beneficiary but don’t benefit from the discounts for prescription drugs offer through Medicare Part D, and have no prescription drugs coverage with any other insurance, you may be able to have a discount at the pharmacy by showing your Medicare card, as by law they are required to provide a discount.
